Here's a film I've not seen in ages (probably with good reason!). A complete bunch of nonsense from the late 70's. So bad that it is actually curiously watchable. Here's the trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzfuNSpP0RANotable for an early appearance of the Hoff (in some highly questionable makeup) www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC-dwjrinK0and the most laughable villian to have ever appeared in any film www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXug3DXNUAUNo law of physics goes unviolated in this film (notice the curious lack of depressurisation in the trailer when the windows of the spacestation are broken, as well as the tendancy for debris from exploding spacecraft to fall down), no line is too cheesy for the script (thankfully the trailer spares us too many examples). On the plus side it does have a planet populated by scantily clad space vixens and Caroline Munro in costumes that appear to have rejected by the makers of 'Barbarella'. I'd love to get a copy of this for a beery night in with a few mates. Anyone else remember this classic example of 70's space cheese?

Ive seen it only because of Caroline Munro, shes so gorgeous its untrue. Still the film is rubbish but it does star a young David Hasslehoff and Christopher Plummer. www.golobthehumanoid.com/starcrashfront.htmlThis is a brilliant Starcrash site, just as cheesy as the film itself!

Mmmmmm, i loved all those post star wars cash-ins. Starcrash can usually be found on ebay and is available on dvd. The star backgrounds in it are fantastic!
I saw as many cash-ins as i could in the cinema and have a soft spot for the italian movie The Humanoid.

Ah yes that was a great take on the Magnificent Seven story. George Peppard was great as Cowboy.

And the baddie - John Saxon - was great. Anyone seen this H G travesty? Is a similar standard to another travesty hanging around......

Ah yes the movie were (spoiler alert) Jack palance as the evil ruler thingy get's a plastic celling dropped on his head which actually bounces as it hit's his noggin. ;D Aside from that the movie is crap and H.G.Wells classic novel has as much to do with this film as a fish has to do with nuclear reactor design D.F.

BTW while it's no where nearly as bad as any of these movies.. I'd recommend esp the DVD which has a commentary by none other than BRIAN BLESSED which if anything gives the sub woofers and bass a work out! D.F.

Flash Gordon is ace. Camp as Christmas but very entertaining and with great music. I have the tin box version but I haven't heard any of the commentaries yet. I'll have to check out old BB. Jack Palance wasn't fussy about some of the parts he took was he? Saw 'Hawk the Slayer' t'other night and it was pretty awful... despite a pretty good cast.

I LOVED StarCrash when I was little- we hired it out- sorry I made mum and dad hire it out loads. A truly offal film!! A total ripoff of Star Wars.
Shape Of Things To Come- another awful film I taped off telly and loved/watched loads as a kid. I love the way light speed makes the ship tilt left and right! You can't beat a cheesy film with Jack Palance in though- remember Hawk The Slayer, anyone?!!
Bttle Beyond The Stars- another I loved. Fantastic soundtrack by James Horner- Good fun Roger Corman rubbish- though I remember him doing another movie with the same space ship models.
Flash- AAaah! Or should I say- Brian Blessed Commentary on 5.1- AAAARRRRRRGH!

And Hawk the Slayer is pretty awful as you say Nerf. Especially the part when Hawks' love of his life is shot with an arrow that wobbles when Hawk catches her. Jack Palance is great in this film - And it's full on for atmosphere.

Personally I refuse to consider "The Shape of Things to Come" an "H.G. Wells travesty" because it has literally nothing to do with Wells' story other than the title. But it and "Star Crash" are certainly a couple of the worst SF films I've ever seen. For a *fun* cheezy Star Wars ripoff, check out "Galaxina". That at least has comedian Avery Schreiber going for it, plus some amount of we-know-this-movie-stinks-so-we're-having-fun-with-it quality. I can't say the same for "Shape" or "Star Crash", which IIRC were done straight.

Ah yes that was a great take on the Magnificent Seven story. George Peppard was great as Cowboy. Yes, and then there was the actor who so perfectly re-created Robert Vaughn's character and performance from "The Magnificent Seven". Oh, wait... ;D

I've always had a soft spot for Krull, I still maintain it's good. Shockingly, there are no untarnished Krull clips on You Tube, but I did find this golden reference. Spaced - Series 2, Ep 2, 2:40 minutes in, keep watching until you stop laughing. Then watch the others. It sums this entire discussion up. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wBbJuUWQNo&mode=related&search=
