Ok this is a 'things that bug you in sci fi' thread. I'll start. In DS9 there is a bloody battle episode where Starfleet soldiers are defending a communications array. In the battle at the end, the soldiers are having to carefully aim and fire their rifles against the enemy that are charging at them en masse. Starfleet phasers can fire in wide angle mode or in a constant concentrated stream. If the federation troops were to do that the battle would be over in seconds with little or none killed. I know im missing the point but there you go. Over to you.

The fact there are so many English speaking aliens all the languages in the universe and they choose the language of one of the smallest countries on our humble planet and the fact Lukes torpedo turned a corner to go down that vent in the first death star and didnt hit anything on the way to the core Its in space! theres no air to suck it down! wtf! really accurate those torpedos if they just veer off at random moments! While im on SW why do the xwings s-foils need to go into attack 'X' mode when there in space and it wont affect manouverablity due to the lack of air. Also, The Phantom Menace, just, The Phantom Menace Also Ewan Mgreggors stoopid bloody english accent agghhh!!!!

Talking of lack of air, all these spacecraft, bases, weapons and detonations etc all make a wonderful array of sounds. Very entertaining, but what is the sound traveling through?? In space there is no sound at all!

ok...
must every female alien species wear spandex and say things like "show me more of this earth thing called kissing?" honestly...
And on the same point, why do they all want to breed with humans? A back water species...the intergalactic equilavant of the hatefields and mcoys?
*shudder*
Imagine the pups....

Or people getting shot or blown up but there being no blood or visible injuries at all...that's just being ultra cheap.

Or the vast majority of aliens (and im talking star trek shitty spin offs like ds9 and voyager here (Ooo! contraversial comment!!)) being basically indentical to humans in every way, other than they like going to tattoo parlours for differing facial decoration, and thats it!

A few things that bug me are - Some geek tapping a computer keyboard or tapping a keyboard whilst stuffing a Big Mac in their mouth [ nearly as annoying as someone slurping their tea ], the use of the word anomaly which seems to spring up a bit too often - "Sir we're picking up a few anomalies on the surface of that planet!". Russell T.Davies, the use of the word INCOMING which also seems to crop up quite a bit - "We've got INCOMING on the starboard side Cap'n!". SHIELDS - how many times have you heard that particular chestnut!
