Apparently, according to Lucas, none of the central characters to the plot will feature in the TV series- which will be about minor characters, is apparently "a good idea" and will be "a lot of fun to make".
If I wasn't going to watch this before, I'm REALLY GOING TO AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE!
An opportunity to bridge the gap between the 2 sets of films and introduce the characters would have been potentially great (but so were episodes 1-3!!), though obviously Lucas would have churned out more rubbish.
But to skip this totally and rely on it being Star Wars to get it on national TV (apparently, the networks are already raising concerns...) is a joke.
The man's an IDIOT!!
Opinions?

I like the storyline of the game Star Wars: Battlefront 2. It follows the end of the clone wars and the rise of the Empire from the point of view of the clones... and how they become Imperial StormTroopers. I'd like to see that explored more in some way. One thing.. the STs in the orighinal trilogy have American accents whereas the clones all have the same Antipodean one. How'd that happen?

I'm sure that's EXACTLY the sort of detail that Lucas will completely skip in his dream to plunge any shred of credibility that Star Wars still retains into a deep abyssal trench beneath t'sea

Incidentally, I'm sure once the empire were established, that recruitment/shanghai'ing would ensue, rather than paying for costly, time consuming cloning programmes.... Presumably a similar reason for ST's sheer inability, as trained troops, to aim their weapons properly in episodes 4,5 & 6...

We've seen over the years various Sci Fi greats that have made it to the small screen, and IMO they always take on that horrible, contrived US format similar to soap operas, with pointless tired formulas based on the 'detailed' events in characters lives. It spreads the budget, and damages the good memories of the superior movies.
These projects are produced just for $$$'s and that's all, the worst form of spin off.

They always have that rushed "school for mediocre acting" feel to them. All the magic is gone, and they test your boredom levels to the lowest level I'm afraid.

What is Lucas on? I want to see the SW:BF2 storyline not some tenuously related poop! Anyway.. Has anyone here seen the infamous 'SW: Holiday Special'? If so, where can I d/l it? PM me if you know where to find it (you never know who is watching, so don't post here!) I'm not expecting much (I've read many a description) but I'd like to see it, even if it is just the once...

And, btw, nicely explained. The Donal! The narration for the SW:BF2 game has a good 'Band of Brothers' style vibe that I really like. Especially when you come to the part where the clones, in their shiny new Stormtrooper armour, accompany Anakin on his mission to wipe out the Jedi. Top marks for the developers of SW:BF2 for exploring the darker side of Star Wars in great detail throughout the game. Awesome stuff... and, it seems, sadly missing from other projects that are planned. What a damn shame. You know, it strikes me that the games that are, or aren't (for that matter), actually directly related to the SW franchise tend to come out better than anything that they seem to have in the works for TV. The 'Dark Forces' games were fantastic, too!

Cheers Nerfy.
I enjoyed Dark Forces back in the day. I played Jedi Outcast recently- quite enjoyed it as far as I got, but found, even on easy (it's a bloody difficult game btw), that those Dark Jedi with the sabre proof armour got a bit frustrating in the end- they were nigh on impossible to beat.
Has some good moments/atmosphere in it though....
ps- I quite enjoy Smallville!!!

Yeah the DF games are my absolute favourite star wars games (second only to X-wing Alliance)
Outcast was great too and those sabre proof guys are very beatable, hard, but beatable. (I always hate it when they come up with some invention in games that just contradicts the technology and theories in the orginal stories i.e. sabre-proof armour, NOOOO!! SABRES CUT THROUGH EVVVVRYTHINGGGG!! STOP IT!
Anyway great game and the online multiplayer is/was awesome, spent many an hour on that.
