Poss spoilerrs.
Yesterday i finally picked up my copy of Blade Runner the definitive Final Cut.
for 22 pounds you get:
An richly embossed tin both on the back and front. As you open it up there is a high quality Hologram on a cm thick perspex of Ford with his pistol as the camers pans around him.
Take away the hologram and there is a large multi folding DVD box itself. Inside is a letter from Ridley Scott on a sheet of clear plastic, a dozen high quality postcards with the amazing conceptual artwork and the booklet to the set. All richly covered with photos from the production.
There are 5 DVD's the first is the remastered re edited DVD the 'Final Cut' The image is amazing and the sound is fantastic. Little has been added just subtle additions and a lot of tyding up. The most obvious is 'Zorahs death scene' In the origonals its plain that its a stunt woman in a wig, they used CGI to tack the actual actress face and hair onto the falling body and you cant tell the difference its that good.
DVD 2 is the documentaries. 5 in all going from first concepts all the way to the final release and reaction to the film. Hours of it! They interviewed all the actors and crew from the film as they are now.
(Did you know that Eddie Olmos invented the city speak himself and the noodle scene hes calling Decard a Horse dick in Hungarian! Class!
And watch the sfx one how they did the city' (did you know one of the buildings is the Millennium falcon from star wars on its end.)
DVD 3 is the other versions, the origonal theatrical releases and the Directors cut.
DVD 4 is all the feturettes and over 45 mins of deleted scenes and additional footage plus all the voice overs never used. They put all the footage together, tidied it all up and added a score to it all so it played out like a mini film in its own right!
Disk 5 is the uncut un edited preview version before final editing and many of the sfx have been added.
All in all this is an amazing box set and for 22 pounds worth every penny. A bargain!
9.5/10 its that good!
