Ive had a chance to see a preview of AVP2. Verdict. Crap. 4/10 Its just a total continuation of the substandard first film as opposed to a standalone episode. Only difference here is the level of violence. In this film its blood n guts all the way, perhaps to an excessive amount in places. There is no plot, in fact less of a plot here than in the first film. The chatracters are less interesting than the first avp movie the film is just one big battle from beginning to end. Dont get me wrong the battle sequences are superb, but nothing weve not seen before. But sfx a good film not maketh. Watch on bargain bucket DVD.

From the trailer I was really hopeful about this one - it looked to be a much better effort than the first. I'll still go to see it, but your review has certainly restrained my excitement somewhat.

I haven't seen the last one, personally.
I don't know when the clods in Hollywood will realise, but the reason why we gave a shit was because of Ellen Ripley and Michael Biehn and lil'l Newt and the rest. I cared about the crew of the Nostromo and wanted them to get away. The fact that there was the scariest monster since... um... ever that was after them was icing on the cake. We don't care who will win in a fight between the Pred and the Alien, want I want is some believable characters in scary situations, a taut script and a fast pace - and some really cool concepts.
Gragh. And this is why Tremors, Gremlins and Alien remain my top three alien monster movies.

And Michael Biehn - how cool would he have been in Spielberg's War of the Worlds, with Newt as the kid and um... Corey Feldman? ("I think you're looking for the late River Phoenix, or Ethan Hawke," - ed.)
