'Why so serious?' The world will be watching this in a whole new light now. But he looks to be an awesome Joker.

I had some serious doubts about Heath Ledger playing the joker. I saw the trailer for the first time the day his death was announced. I gotta say..he's got the look, he's got the voice, he's got the LAUGH.
Shame he won't be around to enjoy the success this film would have brought him.

It is looking damn good that's for sure and Heath's nightmare version of the Joker looks to be spot on - a fitting tribute to the man.

I guess I'm in the minority in preferring Tim Burton's vision of Batman, instead of the "Batman Begins" version. And I must say, it takes a lot of chutzpah for someone to try to follow Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the Joker, which I think is absolutely brilliant and unlikely to be equaled. I also am not enthused about the idea of portraying the Joker as someone who's just wearing clown makeup, instead of having his face permanently twisted into a maniacal grin.
However, having said all that, I do intend to see this new film, and I'll try not to judge Heath's performance as the Joker before I've seen it. Maybe they'll win me over. Frex, I thought the idea of a double-ended lightsaber as shown in the previews for "The Phantom Menace" was pretty stupid, but the guy who played Darth Maul "sold" it to me.

I'm one of those who remembers Tim Burton's takes with fondness (and tries to forget '& Robin' and 'Forever'... despite Clooney being pretty decent in the latter.) But, I was won over by Christian Bale (and I have never been a fan) and the whole 'feel' of the thing. Heath seems, from the previews, to have made an excellent stab at a VERY complex character. One that Nicholson, despite his obviously awesome acting skills, only really scratched the surface (great job though he did). I think Heath may have really gotten to grips with the character he played... and it seems to show in those ads. We shall see.

Did you really think Clooney did a good job? I thought he was good in the action scenes, but in the dramatic ones I thought he was just "phoning in" his performance. Not that I blame him, on such an insipid movie. But it did give us one great joke: "Yes, Robin and I do live together. And yes, we do wear rubber costumes with molded-in nipples. But we're just good friends." ;D
