Yeah I saw this trailer before Cloverfield and was just amazed at how early they are releasing trailers nowadays, this film comes out on boxing day, that bloody months and months away!!! so is this going to be documenting the start of the whole star trek story or something? havent read up on it

the film is a chronicle of the academy days of the original crew (Kirk, et al) and the first voyage of the Enterprise. There's a lot of excitement over this installment. I really hope they don't drop the ball on this.

Yea, that pretty much covers it. There will be no middle ground with this. It will either rule, or suck. No two ways about it.

From what the film makers say, they're going to be "pushing the reset button" on "Star Trek", the way they reset the James Bond series.
I wish them much luck with it. After so completely and utterly screwing up their continuity on the "Star Trek: Enterprise" series, this may be the best approach for new "Trek". And it probably *is* the best idea to leave all the baggage accumulated over the last 40 years behind.
What has me worried they're going to bollix it up is that Leonard Nimoy is going to be in the movie. If they really are cutting all ties with the past, how can he be in it? The only way this will work is if he does *not* play Spock.
