So, I finally finished this after reading Pandoras Star in 2005, and again recently followed by Judas Unchained.
I have one question to people who have also read this:
Adam Elvin and Oscar Monroe were involved in the Abadan station bombing. However I get the impresion that they are both first lifers, and in Pandoras Star, it was pointed out specifically that Kines didn't want ANY first lifers on the Second Chance, and Oscar was part of the crew.
Also, Paula Myo had been after the Guardians of Selfhood and Bradley Johannson for 130 years. I can't remember exactly, but it seemed to me that she had also been after Adam for that long. Now, Oscar said he was only 19 when he and Adam bombed Adaban. But elsewhere in the book, it is said that Adam is in his 70's and Oscar was in his 60's... I think. But, that may have been their 'apparent' age descriptions, since everybody gets rejuvinated in the Commonwealth.
So, was Paula chasing Adam for 130 years or just The Guardians? And were Adam and Oscar first lifers?
Can anyone clear this up for me? Hopefully somebody besides me has read these books.

if you like the idea of having several lifetimes , hamilton depicts rejuvenation as a common practice in the 24th century which would expalin been in the teens at the bombing but also explains the age in " reality " one been 60 and 70 there's the 130 year investigation by paula myo , genetically engineered with an obsessive compulsive trait that makes it impossible for her to be dishonest or unjust...suspected criminal , bradley johansson, founder of the guardians of selfhood , an underground ( or is it undergalaxy ?) crime syndicate she pursues him across several lifetimes literally hence the 130 years ms. myo becomes gradually convinced that the starflyer may be real and has organised the liberation of the hostile aliens for its own purposes

uh... yeah, i just finished both books. did you actually read them or did you just research an online review? i was hoping to get some insight from someone who had read the books.
we know bradley johansson has been rejuvinated on Illuminatus, and Oscar had dna reprofiling done there, but the rest of Oscars and Adams history is vague, except that Oscar worked for CST for several decades and Adam gradually fell out with the socialist party and joined the Guardians of Selfhood.
had oscar and adam been rejuvinated, or were they really first lifers? its such a complex story and i just can't remember if that was ever addressed specifically.

Sorry I haven't read these. They do sound like an interesting concept though.

you call that being bitchy? well, excYOOOOOOOOSE... gasp... MEEEEEE!
anyway, i wasn't trying to be bitchy, and what he posted really didn't help me at all, he was basically just saying again what i had just said without answering my question.
the question being... were oscar and adam first lifers. was it ever really declared in the books in black and white, because i can't remember.
