You want a car on wheels? Try a BMW K1200LT aka "Light Truck." Motorized centerstand! The size difference between an R6 and an R1 is negligible - I think someone just wanted an excuse to get an R1. A 600cc I-4 is already faster than is sensible on the street. Er, not that I can talk.... What did you mean by 'knackered'? Two things that really help with back and wrists are a) remembering to keep your back straight and keep your weight off of your hands (you should be staying up via just the legs) and b) getting a nice tank bag to rest your chest on when you're on a long trip... just my two cents, worth less on the exchange rate, I think. Sounds like a hoot!

Niccccee.... Though if I had the money to spare I'd buy either British or Italian KR

Hmmm- you'd need to have spare money to buy British or Italian- to spend on a mechanic every month to sort it!!
I would love a Ducati if they totally sort the reliability. Even a Triumph Speed Triple or Daytona- though I saw a Daytona at Boxhill on Saturday- didn't look like the nicest/most comfortable bike around- the seat looked like it'd be more suited to a super-moto!
Rgal- yeah- mainly the neck was aching- just need to get used to riding for ages... Wasn't a problem on the F650CS as totally upright, but you really need to lean over the tank to get the SV up to a respectable speed!

Modern Ducatis are actually quite good on the reliability scale, and from what I've heard, the modern Triumphs are fine, too. The problem with Ducatis is the maintenance on the four-valvers - ouch! But the two-valvers are fine (Supersport, 2-valve Monster...).

Indeed- and they claim to have reduced the running costs by 50% this year. Dry clutch though- ouch! And their electrics have a terrible reputation.... Would still love a 1098 though- GAAAAAWJUSS bikes! Triumphs still have a reputation for disposing of oil regularly and don't buy one with spokes!!! Lots of stories around that at the moment in the press. I don't think I could quite trust a Triumph, which is a shame. I reckon the next bike will be a CBR600, ZX6-R, R6 or Gixxer 6- though not so keen on the single headlight array on the Gixxers- cyclops is not as attractive as 2 eyes..! Though I'll have to see what insurance will be on one...! Sorted my clutch trouble- still loads of play at the course adjuster by the sprocket box- felt much nicer to ride home tonight, almost didn't want to stop and get off..!!Though riding home is not much fun with the other road users
