I've made this creature for a (now not so) secret ending to a film I'm planning to make. My main problem is this - it just doesn't look, well, that scary. Any ideas/suggestions/points that anyone could give me to make it look even better?

Have you done some sketch work of your creature? Usually I finde a rough pencil sketch brings out the best in a 3d image

lol I don't find that scary...I find that quite a turn on! CT, it looks a little like the Langoliers from Stephen King's film of the same name. i suppose maybe it needs more rendering of the skin, eyes, teeth etc to give it a more realistic menacing look. Perhaps some sort of appendages?

A rounder mouth with teeth pointing in? Make the eyes a little pointier?

It doesn't look scary because it looks too much like a cartoon. Give it a more realistic appearance by wrapping a "skin" around it. Perhaps a photograph of a toad's skin would be effective? Use a skin for the eyes, too-- maybe a snake's eyes. Look at some pictures of movie monsters you *do* think are scary, and consider what makes them so.
Details such as brow ridges which would give it a severe frown, and a few snaggle teeth, would help, also.

My advice? If you want to make it truly terrifying, give it pasty, doughlike skin and an evil look. Something like this.... - - - - - - - - - - - - Tee hee! ;D

Beer through the nose really hurts! ;D Seriously tho.., CT, focus on your textures, (I've found they go hand and hand with what your modeling) and explore NURBS and METAforms if your software allows.
