It's a great looking creature design. ^^

If you are looking for suggestions to try and make it 'scarier':
Maybe you could make the eyes slightly sharper and elongated (rather than round), and maybe lengthen the existing spikes on it's back. Sharper images tend to have a more 'agressive' feel to them.
A slightly more angular, pointed face, to give it a much more 'snake-like' appearance; and making the sides of the mouth more pointed and bringing them closer to the sides of the head (perhaps even a little drool around it's mouth?) are other things you might like to try.
It really depends on what you are looking for and what you want the final creature to look like.
