Alton Towers

On Friday, my lovely lady and I went for a day out to Alton Towers. Because we caught it so early in the season, and on a week day, it nearly felt as though we had the place to ourselves.
We must be bloody crackers, because we went on Air a couple of times, Nemesis 3 times, and the totally terrifying Oblivion FIVE times!! It was marvellous not having to queue for long, sometimes not at all. We ended up having 19 rides in all during the day.

That's weird. I was just talking to Vanessa last night about the fact that neither of us have been to Alton Towers in years - probably about 15 years actually and we've never been together. We really must organise a trip down.

Glad to hear you had a smashing time, Poyks! As a coaster lover myself I salute you!

The "Oblivion", from what I've read is one mean mutha. It's first drop
is notorious. I've also read none of the rides or coasters are built above tree level, but rather below ground. To peserve the beauty of the surrounding gardens.

Alton Towers is great... I've been there a couple of times and love the rides... Nemisis, Air and Oblivion are great fun. I haven't been for a couple of years though (last time I went air was brand new) so there are probably some new rides there since then.

The best roller-coasters I have been on have to be those at Busch Gardens in Florida... those are pure awesomeness... but the ones at Alton Towers ones are a lot of fun and very 're-rideable'. ^^
