I was listening to a friend of mind laughing and guffawing at this so called comedian on telly the other day and i sat there without as much as a giggle. I thought the guy was as funny as a car crash.
Now what comedians do you find overrated.
Me, well four spring to mind:
Ricky Gervais is my numero uno. The Office was just painful to watch, Extras is unwatchable and in real life he comes across as smug. (the slap your silly mush off kind of smug.) The Ramstein plane disaster was funnier than him! I work in an office and believe me when i say i know characters that are almost straight out of the show and they are NOT funny.
Number 2 is Reeves and Mortimer. All they do is hit each other with frying pans. And...
Little Britain: The show that so wanted to be The Fast Show and isnt.
Peter Kay: Why? If he isnt swearing which is so off putting hes telling fart jokes which is all he can get away with in this Politically Correct society.
Over to you...

Blimey, I think Gervais is hilarious. The two stand ups I've seen of his (Politics and Animals) were both side-splittingly funny. The Office and Extras I guess are more an acquired taste. Peter Kaye is more of a one hit wonder to me. His Live at the Top of the Tower show was very funny, but all he's done since is more of the same. He needs to get new material. Reeves and Mortimer - hmmm they can be very strange. Master Chef sketch...enough said. Weeeeird! Little Britain I like in small doses, but that can get a bit samey too. Johnny Vegas - I actually prefer him in some of his acting roles to his stand up. Bernard Manning - yeah, a bit of a twat really. Roy Chubby Brown - his early stuff was pretty funny, but again his last 2 or 3 videos were pretty crap. For me top of the pile of crap would be Jim Davison. Jeez, what a c**k.

With the exception of Peter Kay I'm afraid I have to disagree with you there, Rusti ol' sausage.
I tell you who I dislike even more than Peter Kay, it's that Jim Davidson and Bernard Manning twarts.

That Roy Chubby twat....um...sorry...Brown chap Jim Davidson is very un-funny and in my opinion so is Victoria Wood. She is just so un-funny in my eyes. Ricky Gervais is a total genius (& Stephen Merchant) I also quite like Mike Reid - although a bit samey sometimes.

Yeah, you've IMO, poo-pooed some good innovative people there, Rusti. But that is, of course why humour is subjective and its fair enough on that basis. Peter Kay (can't say I've heard him swear in a show that I can recall) had one good show as RB said, Jim Davison was never funny and Bernard Manning is just a twat. Humour is a lot like music... it is always evolving. Either you like the new stuff or you don't. I quite liked Mitchell and Webb's show on TV recently, but I saw them on Comic releif and they died on their arses. I didn't like Russell Brand when I first saw him... but I've since found that he can be pretty amusing.

Also, Billy Connelly's a bit of a tosser after what he said about Ken Bigley - He apparently told the terrorists who murdered him to 'hurry up and get on with it' - Tosser.

Now, despite Billy's poor taste comment about Ken Bigley, I still think he's a comic genius. I have to say I prefer some of his older stuff to his more recent stuff though.

Katherine Tate- was subjected to an hour of the parents laughing at this on Xmas day- just like Victoria Wood, the same 3 or 4 jokes OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Once you've seen a skit with a character in, it doesn't get funnier with repetition. Especially not when it was awful in the first place. Comedy that dates very, very quickly.
Little Britain- has a few good sketches but now being done to death and as above it was dated the day it came out.
Harry Hill- reeeeeeelly don't know what the fuss was about there. Not funny. In. The. Slightest.

I have to agree with the Peter Kay thing. I've never once laughed at the geezer, he's about as funny as an endoscopy.
Jethro is another one with zero humour potential. I saw about 5-10 mins worth of a vidoe once and I must say that I didn't even smile, let alone laugh. Now I'm fairly easy to amuse (or a bit strange, it depends on your perspective), so it take a lot for me not to find someone funny.
I can't say either way about Russell Brand, I can't bear to watch him for more than 5 seconds, so I don't know if he's funny or not.
