This is so Evil and anyone else wont find out the ending. No peeking!
I know there is the official interpretation, but my view on it is this:
The bit where he came back to the 'real world' was all in his head. It was all part of the choice his sub-concious was telling him. Showing him what awaited him. However that road meant he would live. He chose to stay in a coma, in his fantasy world. This doomed him, you could here the doctors in Gene's car (' were losing him hes slipping away...) he was never out of the coma.
he got the girl, defeated the baddies, he was happy and he rode off into the sunset... to his death.
The girl was the final act of his mind. 'its all over now, switching the brain off.. bye bye!' Click.

Quote
“The truth is, when I wrote it, what I was trying to say is that’s he’s died, and that for however long that last second of life is going to be, it will stretch out for an age, as an eternity for him. And so when he drives off in that car, he’s really driving off into the afterlife.”
If you need more help, there's a whole documentary about the final episode in the DVD, out on Monday.
Sounds like what the writer was trying to do was make the viewer believe that he is dead but in the afterlife it is 1973 and he's still catching baddies. The ending makes a lot of sense to me now I've read this.

Tell me how you did your sig and I'll send you the original. Deal or no deal? Shall we ask the banker... LOL Its done in Photoshop. I took the photo in question (ill send it to ya) cropped it added the text, then reduced the picture size to the size i want in this case avatar sized. Then i saved the file under 'save file to web' this gives you the option to adjust the overall quality of the picture to fit a file size you determine.

Thanks Rich. The one you emailed me was bigger than 2nd one though. So, where do I get photoshop from? Does it come on a disk, or can the programme be downloaded? I want to something very similar to your sig but spell Gene properly. Everyone loves my ringtones too. I have bluetoothed them to four people so far. Thing is, out of the fifteen people that I played them to so far, only 6 knew where they had come from. Such a shame more viewers didn't get in on the series.

Well i got my copy Photoshop Elements 3 free with my digital camera. The full version is like 200-300 quid. You would have to ahem, do you know what off the net if you want it. Be careful of viruses i got caught out like that once. PS: Ralph Brown aka Frank Morgan left a message on myspace page. (yes its actually him) www.myspace.com/rustiswordz

Cool! Bet you're chuffed with that! yeah i was. You have to be a bit careful a lot of 'famous' myspaces are just fan pages but dont let on that they are. What you have to do is look at the pics and vids and blogs. You can tell from that if its the real bloke or not. In this case it was. He said in his intro that he'd only accept you if he likes your music, he obviously liked mine so he accepted my application to add him. This means that a man as busy and recognisable as he took the time to look at my page, the least i can say is thanks. So i did left a couple of cheeky comments said i like his movies etc. (which i do, he was in Withnail and I, Alien 3 etc) And he replied back. Which was nice, brilliant! ;D

Well I've just watched the second series. Great stuff and a satisfactory ending. In the documentary on the DVD, the producer says that the ending is supposed to be 'taken ownership' of by the viewer. I myself think he did indeed die and he is now living his afterlife in 1973. In a way he is more alive than he ever was in the real world. That, to me, is a happy ending.
