Also, where there is a distinct political/economic advantage to unification it often happens... The united states united, the Australian colonial states federated, Europe formed it's union and that is growing.
It won't happen until all nation states embrace democracy though. I can't see China or N. Korea ceding autonomy in their present structure.
I think it'd also require a rationalism/humanism/secularism/critical-thinking revolution to counter rank stupidity and fundamentalism.[/glow]

I like the options bayne.  Steann and D.F., my new mantra is "Try custard with different types of meat, because..." Roast chicken with custard didn't work well; it's just lumpy dessert with a hint of fartiness! ;D |
