It took me a while but I ended up creating this plan for global peace.
Please tell me what you think of it.
It is already up on the conference website.

Global Peace
The Problem
Earth is a planet wracked by warfare and differences.
As much as we like to think of Earth as a fairly peaceful planet, in some region there is some sort of conflict occurring – both internally and with other nations.
Simply saying ‘stop it and lets work together’ isn’t going to work anytime soon.
The United Nations, although good in principle, is lacking in some areas.
Therefore, I have drafted a plan of my own.
My Solution
World Body – “Earth Government”
Although it could be argued I am simply trying to recreate the United Nations – I am not.
I am suggesting something completely different.
This world body will be in total control.
It will be in charge of everything – not just have representatives from countries.
For example, there will be no American Defence Forces, Australian Defence Forces, and Iranian Defence Forces for example – there will be the Earth Defence Force.
Equally, there will be Earth Air Lines, instead of Qantas, Aeroflot, etc.
Key Figures
Earth Leader
The Earth Leader will be elected every 4 years.
The Earth Leader will be elected through the following process:
The Earth will be split into different ‘electoral regions’.
Regions surrounded by red with ‘vote’ will be given the chance to vote for the region they wish to join (Eg, Turkey, Russia, Greenland and Island and the Indian Ocean ).
Each country in each region would put two representatives up.
The country then votes on the two and the winner goes through to the next round.
The representatives from each country are then voted on by the entire region with the winner going through to the next round.
In the final round, there are eight final representatives.
The entire world votes on these and the winner of this vote becomes World Leader.
Vice World Leader
The Vice World Leader would be chosen from a new vote by the world.
The final seven from each region (excluding the new Earth Leader) would be the candidates.
This way ensures that there are always two different world leaders from two different regions.
Earth Defence Force Leader
The Earth defence force leader will be elected by the military solely.
Each region will also put forward a candidate from their existing militaries.
Only soldiers would be able to vote on those entering into power.
The militaries job will be to assist with disaster relief, reinforce the police if necessary and help with reconstruction efforts rather than fight other countries.
Policies
Not compulsory to join: It will not be immediately compulsory for nations to join the new world body. However, those that do not may soon get left behind as other nations in the world progress forward.
One condition on entry is that the countries own leaders are elected democratically in regular elections.
Free trade between members: A policy of free trade between all member nations. This means that there will be no import, export fees or tariffs – but nations can only ship in as much as they need to have.
It means that developing nations can ship in hundreds of tonnes of food and supplies in order to help feed their people and construct new/better facilities.
But they can only order in as much as they need so that other countries can still order in what they need.
Military hardware would be an exception and would have to be paid for as no one is trying to promote rapid military growth through the free importation of weapons.
One Planet, One People: As we are all humans, we are of the same race. Only in looks do we differ, (Asian people look different to white people, who look different to middle eastern people, etc) but in the new world government, looks would not matter. The world has advanced far beyond petty beliefs that one particular race is superior to another. If something happens to one country, all countries that can afford to, are required to respond in some way (Sending troops to help keep order, sending supplies, sending medical teams, etc) and this ensures that we look after everyone.
Countries that are still developing would be exempt from sending immediate aid until they are judged to be ready.
Combined Efforts: Countries and organisations that can afford to, should work together for the greater good of all. This means that Russia, America, China, European Space Agency – should all work together in the area of space flight to minimize costs to one country and deliver greater benefits for all.
Countries should also work together in the area of humanitarian relief for those that need it most.
Conclusion
With all countries now under one command, and all being treated equal with all resources being distributed for all to use, no country has a reason to fight others.
Once Earth is united, we can start looking further a field then Earth.
