I've long been fascinated by this most infamous of murderers (as are many others), and part of this goes hand in hand with my interest in Victoriana. Anyone who is interested should check out the following site: www.casebook.org/intro.htmlIt's packed with info on the case, newspaper reports from the day, theories and essays, contemporary photographs (including crime scenes) and also background information about London in the late 1800s. There are even reconstructions by visitors of how the victims would probably have looked (only one had photographs taken of her when she was alive). The theories of who the Ripper was are many, ranging from the frankly mad to the plausible and they are all discussed on the above site. Highly recommended.

I did the tour about 7 years ago. It's very atmospheric walking those same streets in the dark, and even though the area has changed out of all recognition to how it was at the time, it's still a unique experience, you can almost feel the history soaking in through the soles of your shoes.
