Doctor Who is just piss poor. The SFX is cheesy, the acting abysmal. tennant i want to see die, die die. Bad BAD choice for the Doctor.
I cant stand this insistance by all the has been actors and acrtresses and other z list celebs that insist on leaping on the band wagon. Its not intellegent casting it all comes across as Russell T Transvestite inviting his chums along rather than picking people for the roles that will be good at.
I think we need an older Doctor one who does the thinking and planning and allows the younger companions to do the fighting and running. Like Peter Cushing in his Doc films.

Sorry mate, cannot agree one iota. There have been stacks of good actors in Doctor Who, and even when there were rubbish ones (Michelle Collins was diabolical in the textbook-mehness of the tedious episode '42') there were completely ace actors. For example... Harry Lloyd as Baines, the best baddie in Doc Who recent history. Carey Mulligan as Sally Sparrow. John *fecking ace* Simms as The Master. Dean Lennox Kelly as Shakespeare. Richard Wilson as Dr Constantine. Marc Warren as Elton Pope. Will Thorp as Toby Zedd Claire Rusbrook as Ida Scott... These are great TV actors. Just because they're not *names* doesn't mean that they aren't respected and enjoyed in many TV shows. And I do have problems with half of Russel T Davies scripts (he's either inspired but with slightly sloppy plots - like in Gridlock, Shakespeare Code, Parting of the Ways, Love & Monsters etc...) or completely terrible and overblown (The Last of the Timelords - a bit of a disaster for what promised to be great). Listen mate, go out and rent the Series 3 DVD that has Human Nature/Family of Blood and Blink on it. It's perfection in my opinion. Then let me know what you think. God knows there's been some duffers in series 3 (the Dalek 2 parter was diabolical) but overall it's been pretty strong. It's only Series 4 I'm worried about. I have no problems with young Doctors, but would like a change from Tennant. (Ironically, in series 3 he's only just finding his feet. But I would dearly love to see Patterson Joseph, Chiwetel Ejiofor or Idris Elba as the first black Doctor Who.) Oh, and Russel T Davies is gay, not a transvestite. Sort of the exact life-style choice opposite of Eddie Izzard. And what about this? It's ace! www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYy3XelAn3MAnd to cheer everyone up - Daleks trying to buy housing insurance by the wonderful Doctor Ashen... www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ-lJpL2oVg[Edit] - Oh, and an amusing He-Man one he's done too. www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1WpH0DkgL4

Right. My pennorth. I have no problems with Russel T's preferences... and I don't see why they've even been aired. Let's not go there, kids. Fact is, he has taken what was a classic show and turned it into a bit of a farce in which you have to have 'guest stars' to liven up the tedium. But that's (being fair) probably a sign of the times. It is not the same show I grew up with. At all. Back then, yes they had wobbly sets and unconvincing rubbery monsters, but the scripts were amazing. You only have to view old strands like 'The Ark in Space', 'Planet of the Spiders' or 'The Seeds of Doom' to know what I'm getting at. And the charisma of Doctors like Baker and Pertwee helped carry it through. I don't dislike David Tennant but this whole getting Catherine Tate involved thing reeks of bowing to popular (ie. crap) culture and NOT lovingly producing a great show. Telly nowadays leaves me cold on the whole. Doctor Who now is no different.

@ Pete,
I think 'agree to disagree' is the phrase of the day. Also i dont think Doctor Who is my kind of sci-fi. I love Battlestar, Stargate and im enjoying the re runs of Farscape. Thats my kind of Sci-fi.

Well every show has its off day. Battlestar, Stargate (itself a second rate film spin-off) and Farscape all have their bad episodes too.
Doctor Who has always had 'name' actors clamouring to appear. It's just you have to take the cr*p (Catherine Tate, Bonnie Langford, Ken Dodd and that guy that played Mickey!) with the sublime (Derek Jacobi, Pauline Collins, Martin Jarvis etc.)
