I'm drawing the concept of my 16th (Yes, 16th!) Fighting Machine, but I've run into a steel reinforced concrete wall, so to speak. I can't come up with a good Heat-Ray design, and I'm wondering if anyone here can help. My Fighting Machine is as true to the book as I can make it, so the Heat-Ray needs to be as accurate as well. Any help will greatly appreciated!

I'm no artist I'm afraid, but one or two of the others may be able to help.

There are a few artistic types here who I'm sure can help you. Keep checking in.

The tentacle is holding the heat-ray under the cockpit - or hood, if you prefer - in a down-up-down curve shape. The heat-ray is boxlike with a front protrusion appearing similar to a flashlight, with a glowing circular "bulb" on it's end (also like a flashlight). Here is a (very) rough draft of the heat-ray. In case you haven't noticed, it's a side view. Since you're staying true to the book, the beam should be invisible. Hope it it helps.

can you give an example of your previous concepts so we can get a feel for what you are going for here?

I would like that as well. I'd like to see how good you are. Maybe you're as good as Picasso. Or Monet. Or maybe even Luperis!

Well I would, but I don't know how to post pics... the pics you want to post are they stored on your computer or web images ?

No, they're stored in a high-tech binder on sheets of paper. But that's because I haven't stored them on my computer..... yet.

Well I'll get my 15th Machine up here shortly/eventually, depending on my vat of mixed-up life. Basically, the Heat-Ray is streamlined, and held on a Cobra-neck on top of the head like the one from the 1953 Paramount film.

As well as seeing the previous FM design, it might also help to see the FM that you are working on right now without the heat ray... so we can try and work out what would be true-to-the-book, and fit in with the design you are working on. I'll happily try and help once I've seen your pics if you'd like, but I'm sure that some of the other artists here can provide much better help than I can (as they produce much better, closer-to the-book artwork than I am capable of). I would like that as well. I'd like to see how good you are. Maybe you're as good as Picasso. Or Monet. Or maybe even Luperis! Thanks for the complement, omegatripod. I'm flattered... but am not sure that I deserve to be listed with those famous artists as I'm nowhere near being that good. There are many WotW artists as good as me, and many that produce work that is far superior to mine... several of which regularly post their artwork on this board, who are mush more deserving of that level of praise. ^^

I'm not showing my 16th to anyone 'till it's done to keep some anticipation for it. The 16th is really a slight modification to the 15th, so that's why I'll post that instead. There's a lot of work to be done on the 16th and it might be a while, since I'm in high school.

Ok... that's cool. I understand that you want to keep your art secret until completion. I'm the same with my artwork - I don't like to show it to anyone until I feel it is finished. When you post your pics of the previous design, I'm sure someone here can help you.

Thanks for understanding Luperis.
I apologize to anyone if I came across as a little rude- I read some of my earlier posts and they didn't come across to myself as polite as I wanted them to be, so sorry if I disappointed or offended anyone.
And by the way, I'm afraid it may be a while until I post any pictures here, maybe another half-month or so.
