Hi, I have never been in a chat room(?) before so please be patient with me. I am looking for a recording of a musical version of "War of The Worlds" that came out in the 70's and am having no luck finding anything about it. I think Rex Harrison narrated it but I am not sure. Can you help me or send this on to someone who can? Thanks bunches.

Hello, nathaniel. You can't find any info about it? Well, here you go then... 1) The musical version of The War of The Worlds was written and released in 1978 by a chap called Jeff Wayne and is still selling very well now. It's easily available at most good music stores. Check out the official site on www.thewaroftheworlds.com. I know the guy who runs it... The musical has, over the last two years, been twice the subject of a Live Tour that took the UK (and Australia and New Zealand as well in 2007) by storm... and another Tour is planned for 2009. 2) Rex Harrison? No, it was the late, great actor Richard Burton who narrated. 3) David Essex, Justin Hayward, Phil Lynott and Julie Covington were amongst those who lent their talents to the original album. Does that help?

Hey Nerfy, does Jeff give you a kickback from all the plugs here?
I'll get me hat... ;D
Seriously, I finally got to see the video of Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds Live" stage show. And to all those who say it's their favorite adaptation... now I know why! I could go on and on about how wonderful it is, but you've heard it all before. So I'll just say "Ditto!" (Now, when the heck is he gonna do the movie??)
