We had a hand grenade handed in to a charity shop around the corner from my house. The police evacuated the area while Catterick Garrison were called for their bomb disposal team. We were just outside of the evacuated area, but I was going to Sainsburys at the time and couldn't get through. A bit of excitement for a usually quiet area.

Aye, there's probably loads of WWII and earlier weapons and ordinance still gathering dust in attics or sheds across the country.

i used to work for a charity shop a few years ago, and we were donated a box of unexploded shells from the local military base. What we were supposed to do with them is beyond me...
