I have just posted this picture on Facebook after a discussion with Rusti about our favourite Sc/Fi artists. Peter Elson was mentioned and I was surprised he had never seen this image, he suggested I post it here just in case none of you had seen it either. It's an A1 sized poster I bought back in 1980, it hung on my wall until it fell apart, I almost threw it out but when I got my first PC and scanner and enough know-how I scanned the whole thing into Paint Shop Pro and patched it up, this is the finished result. Click on the thumbnail to see the full sized image.

That's great! I've always wanted a good look at that picture, but it was always too small whenever I found it on the internet.

Great work The fighting machine on the right seems to have one of its feet raised... makes me wonder how it manages to not topple over (maybe little jets or something keep it balanced...?)

Do you not lift your feet when walking then?

Do you not lift your feet when walking then? Actually, I lost both my legs several years ago trying to protect a mother and child from some psychotic ill-tempered kittens... No of course I didn't . I was just trying to envisage how the tripods maintain their balance.

Had that poster too, sadly mine fell apart too after spending years covering a nasty stain on the wall. Such a shame it wasn't included along with the other paintings in the original album, hell it was,nt even in the War of the Worlds collectors edition from a few years ago Certainly great to see it again thanks for the memories!

It wasn't in the official Jeff Wayne collection because I believe it had nothing to do with J W and it was published independently. I've heard J W And Columbia records were not too chuffed about it. If you can remember the front of the folded poster, it said "POSTER No 1" There were no more posters after that, I think someone put a stop to it.

I had a quick search and found my poster. It does say it's the official poster magazine, but I don't think it was official, though I could be wrong. I was wrong about the date of publication, the poster came out the same year the album did, 1978. This poster is 32 years old, it's practically an antique, it certainly looks like one ;D

I'm not sure if I've ever seen that. Sweet looking piece of art, LC! Thanks for sharing!

I don't see why he can't reproduce it, we're not using the image for profit.
