Some of you may remember my Fighting Machine model from yonks back... evilnerfherder.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fanwotw&action=display&thread=79Well I've decided to make a handling machine to go with it. The modelling it pretty much done now, (The grabbing arms extend to 5 sections as noted in the blueprints) I'll be adding more details like the rectangular panels in the body work and a little bit or dirt here and there in the texturing so it'll look slightly more complex though the original plans of the mahcine are quite basic and I've tried to follow them as closely as possible. The materials will improve too, its just a flat metal colour at the moment. I think I'll re-do the materials on the fighting machine to match too and probably do some form of animation with them both in at the end. Any suggestions for the animation are welcome

Looks great, when I saw the image, though, it looked like it was already done. Did you document your progress like you did your fighting machine?

Thanks No the progress is pretty much the same as the fighting machine so I didnt see the need to put all the same images back up again, I will from now though.

Looking good! suggestions for the animation? How about it rummaging through the rubble of a collapsed house searching for people.

Well okay, you could have someone hidden in the rubble - whilst the handling machine is rummaging about - suddenly make a break for freedom, only to be chased and caught by the pincers.... sounds painful doesn't it? being caught by the pincers. I've seen a fighting machine breakdance this should be a doddle for you. ;D

Here's the Handling machine finished as far as the model goes, I've stille yet to put it in a scene or do any animation

Wow! That looks fantastic, it looks real. I like the way you've even added the mechanism that operates the claw, as the rod moves in and out the claw closes and opens. Brilliant.

Fanks Yeah I was never happy with the simplicity of the original claw, it just didn't work for me. I also took the claws away from the 'blocks of metal' look and gave them a strengthening spine down the back. Still in-keeping with the original sketch but more of a logical way about it methinks. I'm now starting to work on recreating the Dumfries High Street from 1890-1900 (below) and putting in the handling machine and tripod to cause some havoc this will be no quick job so dont hold your breath

Started modelling the buildings. This is the one in the centre of the picture, I got a high res photo of it nowadays and its pretty similar, Ive kept it how it is in the first image though.
