Couldn't agree more pete - thought I was the only one here who actually liked that film! Maybe we should form up on the movie thread!

This is the famous deleted scene that has never been seen anywhere but briefly in a pre-viz cut on the DVD extras, and the above concept art. It details Ray and his daughter (I think it's post losing Robbie) creeping through a small town called Camelot, hiding behind cars and dashing across streets as tripods pluck screaming people trying to hide from houses with their probing tentacles. It is a scene I desperately wish to see, and wish very much that the rubbish and conceptually disasterous 'this is how they got here' TV News Reporter van scene had been excised in favour of it. It was filmed, but not included, because God hates me or something. I continue to love the film though, regardless, natch. Definitive version still to come, though. There's a photo from the Camelot scene in the Cinefex War of the Worlds issue which i,ve got sadly have,nt got a scanner so can't shove it on here. Looks great, lord knows why Speilburg did,nt keep it in. D.F.

Good choice Rusti. I just love the dynanism of his art, the hell-like lighting and the panic of the tiny figures.

(Pete gibbers uncontrolably over the snowy one sumarising everything that is both breath-takingly cool and horrifying about The War of the Worlds.)

My fave image would have to be this excellent fanfic for the Speilberg version of the film, i think the green and orange work together excellently

The one Rusti posted by TroC, showing two spider-eyed Tripods in London, is by far my favorite. Altho I like several of Correa and Kidd's illos, too!
Thanx for posting that, Rusti.

Already some of my favourites have been posted, including Peter Fussey's wonderfully unearthly and evocative creations, and Troc's creepy spider-eyed monsters, so I shall post some different favourites: Meinert Hansen's concept art, George Jones's horrors, a scale model (can't remember the builder) of the Dean Brothers' aborted design for Jeff Wayne, and Martin Bowers' wonderfully quirky alternative design for the Bournemouth SF Group, respectively...
