......................or a certain piece of music bring any kind of emotion out in you? There's only one song that does that to me i.e. brings a lump to my throat, and thats Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd. It just hits the button for me & the guitar break(s) are sublime - any others peeps?

There's quite a few, but the one that does it every time is Vaughan Williams' "Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis"... And hey, what's this? You can watch a live performance here... www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y7nJL1hpUU*Sniffle* Other songs that move me: Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart Again www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLllav6GIOgArcade Fire - Neighbourhood Tunnels www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rjhskd5SIsTom Waits - Downtown Train www.youtube.com/watch?v=9a0HhectC4cAnd the pretty awesome... Kate Bush - Hounds of Love www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFMqV2FfPNkAs for Comfortably Numb, it is quite a moving song. But I always found something to hate in the emotions of Pink Floyd as well - I have an uneasy relationship with them. I respect them, but at the same time I hate some of wallowing darkness and cynicism that they exhibit. Besides, I preferred them when they had Sid Barrett. ("Get him!" - the crowd)

Oh gods- loads
Off the toppa-
Wuthering Heights- Kate Bush Tiny Dancer- Elton John For No One- The Beatles Wish You Were Here- Pink Floyd The Gunner's Dream- Pink Floyd As Tears Go By- The Rolling Stones Black Star- Radiohead Bridge Over Trouble Water- Simon and Garfunkel Sound Of Silence- Simon and Garfunkel Blood- Editors Camera- Editors
to name but a few
It's funny- I never really find the likes of Pink Floyd and Radiohead depressing- yes, it's often dingy music, but often presented in an uplifting or cathartic manner.

Good choices on Wuthering Heights, Sound of Silence and Black Star - but I'm afraid Bridge Over Troubled Water is one of the most manipulative and turgid songs I've ever heard. Not even Johnny Cash could save it. But then lots of people think I'm a fool for thinking that, so fair enough.

'Don't give up' by Peter Gabriel (with Kate Bush), is probably my fave emotional track, but it's a close run thing with 'Comfortably numb'. 'The Snow Goose' by Camel has a similar effect on me, but in this case it's not just a single track, it's a whole album. For some reason it just seems to fit in with whatever deep mood I'm in, like some sort of emotional amplifier. If I want to wallow in despair then it helps, and conversely if I want to lose myself in the pure joy of life then it also works. I can't explain how it does it, but it does. I recently discovered another Peter Gabriel/Kate Bush duet on youtube. It's from Kate's 1979 christmas special. They're doing a Roy Harper song and the result is beautiful and very moving. It can be found here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=f82ITNM22dM
