What's your favorite version of The War of the Worlds?
Mine is the original novel.

The original novel, by far!
Second would be Jeff wayne's musical version

The Original Novel wins hands down, no "incarnation" of The War of the Worlds has come close to matching it's dark beauty and nightmarish senario.

Actually, I think I might have tried to vote twice. Spent last night on a National Express and haven't been to bed yet, so this may explain much, Nerf.

Hmm, maybe you should have removed the original novel as an option - had it as 'fave adaptation', because let's face it, the novel's going to win hands down, and rightly so.
My fave adaptation is the 2005 Paramount film, but with the 1953 one coming a worthy second. I'm nay a fan of the Jeff Wayne one really, and have never seen the Pendragon one beyond the trailers and that amusing (was it Blackmoon?) parody. Like the Orson Welles effort, though it is a little over-hyped.
My fave spin on it was Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill's excellent six issue volume of their 'League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' comic, which covered the whole invasion and worked many classic Victorian literary characters into it, while at the same time being scary and exciting and deeply satirical.

Well it's too late to change the poll now without creating a new thread. I'll let it stay this way a while.
I guess after the novel, my second most favorite version would be the George Pal film.

Yep... I voted the novel too. ^^ Jeff Wayne's musical, as the incarnation which first introduced me to WotW, comes in a very close second.

It's got to be the novel for me, and again, Jeff running a close second place.

Its gotta be the novel - then anything Jeff Wayne orientated.

The book of course- with the Jeff Wayne musical so close it's probably equal first- seeing as that was what turned me onto the book....
