That sir, is AWESOME. When I first read the book, I had something with a slightly wider head in mind, but that's probably because of all the pictures I've seen, but I think that a head of this size is more in proportion to the "Head looking about." I'm liking the more organic Feel of the new neck, and I feel that the indents for the legs aren't so intrusive on this head as they were on the Pacman head. My God! you know you're getting old, when people start calling you 'Sir' Only kidding bagnewauckland ;D, Thanks for the encouragement. Once everybody is happy with the design, I shall do a painting showing the machine in action. So if there is anything you do not like, let me know. At the moment it doesn't look threatening enough to me, but if/when it is finished and approved I can tweak the design and make it look more Alien, but for now I want to get the mechanics of the machine right. Next: Tentacles? Should they be the same thickness along their whole length? or should they taper? Do we want gripping claws at the ends or not? Suggestions please. ;D

That's looking very good indeed.
Tentacle wise, I would think the tapered claw-less design would work better.

That's looking very good indeed. Cheers Poyks. So that's one vote for the claw-less tapered design. ;D

Three votes are good enough for me. ;D Tapered, claw-less it is. Here's the Hood in colour now and I have done just one tentacle to give you an idea of how they will look . Should the tentacle be smooth or segmented as I have done here? I can just imagine one of the guys in the basket saying "I can see my house from here" and the other one saying "Are we there yet?" ;D

In the book it is segmented, but while I have a tentacle design that's segmented it's a different design than the "shower nozzle," segment as is shown here. I'll try to find my design and upload it as a suggestion.

Smooth looks good, but I'm willing to see a segmented one to make things fair. The machine is starting to look very good now!

Relyt, please give us your design idea even if it's just a simple sketch, we need lots of input at this stage.

Regarding the tentacles, how about something like this?
