Oh the whole, I'm not an advocate of remakes as they are usually pants (The Fog). All some classics need are some digital altering to remove wires, replace bad puppetry/stop motion with CGI and enhance the original. I'd hate to see a remake of Forbidden Planet, but would love to see the original with a proper spaceship, and not a wobbly model on a string!
I think the only remake I was truly impressed by was The Thing - probably because it was a proper retelling of the classic short story.
