Hey guys, I've been wondering about this for a while (thinking with my stomach as always) I realise we are still little way off, and it still depends on whether the authorities decide (hopefully they have decided by now (being the 15th )) but if we do get the go ahead for the trip (christ this is taking ages to spit out lol) what are people thinking of doing for meals? taking camping stoves and cooking there? just sandwiches/cold food? or trying to find a pub for food there? just trying to plan ahead as I have no camping equipmetn as of yet and if I need to buy it I'd rather know sooner rather than later. DOnt want to turn up and watch evberyone else eat when I have nothing Those disposable barbecues are great for camping; don't cost a lot, then you can take sausages, ribs and other man food in a cooler box. You can put a little saucepan on them as well to do beans and soup. Tins of big soup are good to take, because if everything goes tits up, they're still edible cold. Lots of tins of custard are good for the same reason! Loaf of bread, small tub of marg, sandwich spread, and two hundred weight of premium beer! The meeting is today, according to what i was told. I'll call him tomorrow after i get back from my nightshift and ive managed to sleep for a bit. Nice one Rusti.

I must warn everyone if we get the camping site they said NO FIRES. of any kind. I presume this does not include proper camp cookers? I have a two ring cooker with a grill. I have a bottle but haven't checked the level as yet. I also have about 20 ice packs. But, as I see it, a trip around various P.O.I.s we are bound to, and must find, the odd trough or two. So we are only talking something to eat once we get back. I personally prefer this idea. Trying to get to know, and talk to, people in noisy pubs and the like is very difficult. As I will be travelling on my own, I will have ample space in my car. I can fill this space with things like patio chairs,( four of).Two Spare airbeds for the use of ( doubles only I'm afraid ). Anything else peeps are short of, give us a shout and I'll see what I've got. BTW, How many are going?

Right not good news im afraid.
The trip was discussed with the trustees of Horsell Common and they don't have anywhere we can go. They have rejected our request. If they give permission for one lot of people they would have to do it for all.
Thats basically the long and the short of it.
I'm not impressed, i was looking forward to this. He suggested another site called the Camping Club in Chertsey, but that costs money and is no where near the Common. I live closer to the common than where they have suggested.
Whatever happens now, i still want to meet up with all you guys. Maybe not here, maybe not now but i'm still up for it all.
I am at a loss, question is where do we go from here?

Thinking about it, it's not so bad going to a nearby campsite. We won't have the restrictions we would have had, and it's not far to travel to the common or into town. Yes you pay a little bit, but it's not a lot. (And you get facilities we wouldn't have had). I think that's worth looking in to.

Regarding the first option, yeah train is quite convinient, Chertsey Rail Station to Woking Station is onyl 4 stops so shouldnt cost much, then dont need to find a parking spot, then we can do I whilst intoxicated! The only thing is (I've just phoned them) you cant book 1 night on it's own, they are in 'high season' and there has to be a minimum of 2 nights booking. The cost is as follows: £9.25 per person per night £6 pitch fee (not each, overall) and depending on if you get an electric supply pitch thats £3.60 extra. Thoughts?

looking at the second site poyks posted it's going to be closer, but more expensive (I think) (mind you saying that you may well be able to book 1 night, dont know yet I cant get through to them on the phone. £14.60 (£8.60 + £6 (non member fee)) per night per person plus £2.90 pitch fee? or am I reading that wrong? tis a little confusing
