I quite like the idea of a prequel, find out just what happened at the Norwegian station.

Cool, looks a lot like the original too. yeah I hope they dont over-do it with CGI, it should be used to compliment a film, not be its focal point imo.

Awesome! Loved the Carpenter film! Scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.
Special effects on this one looks superb.
Yeah, it's looks to be more like a remake....

I am a massive fan of the 82 Carpenter version, so I have been following the prequel from the very early days.
The film is getting a lot of mixed views. Sadly, the negs are over taking. Some think its a remake and the one's with common sense can see its a prequel. The director (first time movie) Matthijs van Heijningen has spent over 12,000 hours watching the Carpenter film to get the sets as detailed and accurate as possible. The film is a mixture of both CGI and practical, but with CGI cleaning up and adding to the practical for better results.
The film is not doing too well in the box office overseas, so it would appear that Universal will be releasing it on DVD/blu ray very soon to make up for that. Pre-ordrs are already being taken for the U.S release on disc.
I have some links to behind-the-scenes footage from the prequel, so I will post those up shortly.
The enoying thing, the version that Matthijs wanted to release was thrown out by Universal. He's not in favor of the current release and he has hinted at a possible Directors Cut.
